What are some security issues I should be concerned about?

You need to be aware of all the activities that occur in your site and what security issues these actions bring up. For example:
  • If you collect sensitive information (credit cards, account numbers, etc.) from customers is the storage of that information protected?
  • If you offer sensitive information (documents, phone numbers, addresses, etc.) on your site is that information is protected?
  • If you offer information on your site to your users, are there some users who shouldn't have access to that information?
  • Do you store proprietary or other sensitive information in the storage space of your account?
  • Do you use any scripting or programs you've downloaded to collect information from your users?
If the answer to any of those questions are yes, you need to make sure you are using adequate security. There are a wide range of security measures you can take. Click a link below to find more information in our FAQs.
  • Password protection
  • User level permissions
  • User privileges
Note: If you are using a script or other third-party program you have downloaded from somewhere to perform actions on your site, make sure you understand what kind of security issues/problems that program may bring with it. For example, does it send information to another site or leave your site open to other parties being able to backdoor themselves in?
